Edwardian (1901 - 1910)
The Edwardian era (1901 - 1910) was a sparkling time for Britain; London was en fête, the country houses were run by armies of servants and England was more confident than ever. For some it must have been one long house party. Chatelaines of grand, and even not-that-grand, houses would have required the regular changes of clothes made so clear in such shows as Downton Abbey. In fact, grand ladies changed on average four times a day. Wonderful tiaras would have, unlike today, been the norm for various events. A pearl necklace and a good brooch were the standard armor of the day. Jewelry was, above all, a symbol of status. Lets marvel and imagine the Edwardian era - still sparkling in the jewelry that has come down to us today.
