Emeralds are the birthstone of May and are from the family of Beryl, hence sometimes known as green beryl. The green gemstone usually have a 'jardin' of inclusions- a french term for 'garden'. It would be extremely rare and expensive to find no inclusion. Emeralds usually have some form of oil treatment. This improves their clarity.

Emeralds are soft gemstones and are to be worn with care. In fact, thet have their own cut called an "Emerald Cut" (corners cut off) was designed to protect this gemstone. It is also why antique emeralds come with a price due to rarity.
