Antique & Vintage Five-Stone Rings

Antique & Vintage Five-Stone Rings

Graceful and balanced, the five-stone ring became one of the most cherished designs of the Victorian and Edwardian eras. Symbolising everlasting love, the five gemstones are said to represent friendship, love, fidelity, trust, and happiness — a sentiment as timeless as the jewels themselves.

Our collection of antique and vintage five-stone rings features old mine-cut and old European-cut diamonds, alongside sapphires, rubies, emeralds and garnets. Each band was hand-crafted to follow the curve of the finger, its gemstones set low and close together for a continuous ribbon of light and colour.

Every piece is personally curated by gemmologist Zuleika Gerrish FGA DGA, authenticated, and presented in our signature Parkin & Gerrish pink-and-green gift box. Complimentary sizing and insured worldwide DHL Express delivery ensure your chosen ring arrives ready to wear and treasure — a perfect harmony of history, craftsmanship and romance.

What does a five-stone ring symbolise?
Traditionally, the five stones represent the five virtues of a happy relationship — love, trust, communication, commitment and empathy. Victorian jewellers also associated them with the five fingers of the hand or the five senses, celebrating unity and completeness.

When did five-stone rings become popular?
The style flourished in the mid-19th century, especially in England. Early Victorian versions used old mine-cut diamonds or coloured gems set in carved gold galleries, while later Edwardian designs introduced platinum and more refined settings.

Can a five-stone ring be resized or worn daily?
Yes — most can be resized by an experienced jeweller, though care must be taken with antique settings. Five-stone rings are durable enough for regular wear if treated gently; remove during strenuous activity or when using chemicals to protect the stones.
